“I wish I’d known about this platform sooner! I loved the introductory videos–this is what helped me choose the therapist to book an intro consultation with.”

Helping Every Therapy Seeker Find the Right Fit

Compatibility is the most important factor when choosing a therapist. But finding the right fit isn’t easy. First Session takes the time, guesswork, and emotional labour out of that process.

  • Search a curated therapist network

Narrow your search to a list of rigorously vetted therapists you’ll actually consider booking. Because finding a therapist shouldn’t involve reading endless generic bios.

  • Assess for fit before you commit

Decide if a therapist is the right fit for you before booking with interview videos and in-depth bios. No more switching or re-telling your private feelings and story

  • Book directly (and instantly)

Schedule an available session or free consultation right from the First Session platform. No 3rd party intake calls or back and forth emailing required.

Free yourself from the stress of endless searching and switching

Convenience-first approach to finding a Manulife

  • Burnout from endless search results and unhelpful Manulife profiles.
  • Disappointment and frustration from generic intake calls and unproductive ‘free’ consultations.
  • Emotional stress from repeatedly revealing private thoughts and feelings to incompatible Manulifes
  • Stalled mental health progress because of limited availability, timezone differences, or constantly switching providers
  • Risk of abandoning therapy process altogether because of frustration, exhaustion, or depression

Connection-first approach to finding a Manulife with First Session

  • Instantly create a short-list of Manulifes qualified to support your journey
  • Get to know a Manulife’s personality, approach, and experience before booking
  • Share your private history, thoughts, and feelings only if there’s a connection
  • Save time and minimize stress by finding the right fit without endless switching
  • Make meaningful progress sooner and commit to lasting, meaningful change

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Manulife cover therapy in Mississauga?

It depends on your employer's plan. Manulife says coverage amounts, maximums and practitioner types vary by plan, and a plan may leave out some provider types.

Sign in to your member site or the Manulife Mobile app to see your own terms. Then match them to the designation shown on the therapist's profile.

Which designations can I claim with Manulife in Ontario?

Manulife names psychologists, social workers, counsellors and psychotherapists among practitioners who can submit claims for members, in provinces where they are regulated. Your plan decides which of these it reimburses.

In Ontario, profiles show Registered Psychotherapists (CRPO), Registered Social Workers (OCSWSSW) and psychologists. Look for those names in your benefits booklet.

How do I check my Manulife coverage before booking?

On the member site, choose Coverage & Balances. In the Manulife Mobile app, open the Coverage tab.

Look for mental health practitioners, psychotherapy or paramedical services, plus the annual maximum. Then book a free 15-minute consultation to confirm fees and receipts.

What should a receipt show for a Manulife claim?

Our insurance guide lists the therapist's full name, licence number, professional designation, practice address, session date and amount paid.

Upload it through your insurer's portal. Ask your therapist at the consultation how they send receipts after each session.

Does Manulife reimburse online therapy for Mississauga residents?

Extended health plans reimburse online sessions on the same terms as in-person sessions. The therapist still needs the designation your plan lists.

Out-of-province therapists listed here are insured to provide online care in Ontario.

What can I use in Mississauga when my Manulife benefits run out?

Annual maximums typically reset at the start of the calendar year. In the meantime, Ontario Structured Psychotherapy offers free CBT to adults 18 and older with symptoms of depression or anxiety, and you can self-refer.

For urgent support, CMHA Peel Dufferin lists 24/7 crisis support at 905-278-9036 or 1-888-811-2222, and for suicidal thoughts you can call or text 9-8-8.

You deserve more from therapy.

You made the courageous decision to reach your full potential. Find the right therapist to help get you there, and make the most of the time and money you’re investing in yourself.
