Shawna's family has a deep and complex history with mental health, which is what led her to become a therapist. She believes that some of the challenges her family faced were due to cultural stigmas around seeking therapy, which could have been reduced through psycho-education. Shawna sees being a therapist as an integral part of who she is. She says that therapy can be fun, playful, open, and raw.
