Meet Jane
My experiences and interests give me a unique understanding of…
Depression
Anxiety
Complex trauma and PTSD
Relationships and attachment wounds.
Connection to animals and nature.
Intergenerational transmissions of trauma.
Colonialism and Indigenous approaches to healing.
Gender-based violence and oppression.
Family violence and single-parenthood.
Family justice, separation and navigating the legal system.
Coercive control and abusive relationship dynamics.
Narcissistic traits and the impact of emotionally abusive relationships.
Life transitions
Housing instability and tenancy.
Relational complexity
Substance use and addiction.
My cultural or ancestral background is…
Primarily European, with lineage roots tracing back to England, Scotland, and Iceland.
I grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Treaty One Territory and within the homeland of the Red River Métis. My immersion in the community there shaped my understanding of and respect for Indigenous perspectives, culture, and relationships to the land, animals, and ways of healing.
I continue to approach Indigenous learning with respect, curiosity and humility, while recognizing and being accountable to the distinction between absorbing knowledge and claiming the culture as my own.
My clients describe me using words like…
Helpful, in a new way; useful
Reliable
Non-judgemental
Clear and practical
Genuine
Grounded and thoughtful
Intentional; a method to the madness
Calm
Different
Nice and makes counselling fun
Encouraging
Gently challenging and directive

Recognizing unhelpful patterns but unsure of how to change them.
Feeling stuck, tired, stressed, overwhelmed, and uncertain.
Interested in exploring somatic and body-based approaches to healing.
Feeling connected to nature, animals and time outside.
Familiar with anxiety, depression, emotional overwhelm or chronic stress.

Having substance use or addiction concerns; their own or those of someone close to them.
Disbelief belief that things could be different but a willingness to try.
Curiosity about the connection between their experiences and what happens with their emotions and in their bodies.

You are ready to be an active participant in your own therapeutic process.
You appreciate a therapist who will meet you where you are, while also gently challenging you when there may be another perspective to consider.
You want someone who can help you notice unhelpful patterns, without judging you for having them.
You are taking your therapeutic work seriously, but appreciate some banter, laughter and the occasional swear word along the way.

Booking FAQ
Does Jane offer direct billing with my insurance? Or how does payment work?
First Session charges each session directly to your credit card. Once each session occurs and your card is charged, you’ll receive a PDF receipt by email with all the details you need to get reimbursed (therapist name, designation, license number, address, etc.). You can then submit the receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have coverage. We always recommend checking your coverage with your provider before booking.
How do I know if Jane is a good fit?
You are the expert when it comes to knowing who’s the right fit. Watch the therapist’s video at the top of their profile and see whether the message and energy resonate. If you feel drawn to speak with them, listen to your gut — booking a free consultation is a great first step to assess fit.
What if I see no available times to book a session?
If the therapist is listed as accepting clients and you see no available times, it’s likely they haven’t updated their availability (sorry about that!). In this case, you can to see what times they have available.
