Meet Yen
My experiences and interests give me a unique understanding of…
Overcoming relational and intergenerational trauma.
Parental death loss from a young age and understand the needs of a child when this happens.
Leaving a community and a sense of belonging to find something healthier.
Boundary setting and the courage it takes to follow through.
Grief and the healing it can bring.
The hope and the effort it takes to hold on.
What it means to love, and what love means to have.
My cultural or ancestral background is…
First-generation Malaysian Chinese immigrant to Canada, having now lived in Canada for more than a decade.

My clients often self-identify as…
Hurting people who hurt people and themselves.
Traumatized by the suffering of personal circumstances.
People who long to make meaning out of what has happened.
Those who long to grow and better themselves.
I’m the right therapist for you if…
You realize that you are actually here because you want to change.
You no longer want to live like this anymore.
You yearn to know how to love yourself and not think that it is scary or selfish.
You don't like looking at yourself in the mirror.
You don't know the difference between being alone and feeling lonely.
Anxiety is all that you think about.

Booking FAQ
Does Yen offer direct billing with my insurance? Or how does payment work?
First Session charges each session directly to your credit card. Once each session occurs and your card is charged, you’ll receive a PDF receipt by email with all the details you need to get reimbursed (therapist name, designation, license number, address, etc.). You can then submit the receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have coverage. We always recommend checking your coverage with your provider before booking.
How do I know if Yen is a good fit?
You are the expert when it comes to knowing who’s the right fit. Watch the therapist’s video at the top of their profile and see whether the message and energy resonate. If you feel drawn to speak with them, listen to your gut — booking a free consultation is a great first step to assess fit.
What if I see no available times to book a session?
If the therapist is listed as accepting clients and you see no available times, it’s likely they haven’t updated their availability (sorry about that!). In this case, you can to see what times they have available.
Can I contact Yen before booking an appointment?
If you still have questions before booking that can’t be answered during your free consultation, you can .
