Meet Candice

Candice Burnett is a Professional Art Therapist and Registered Therapeutic Counsellor who brings a bold, fiercely compassionate, and body-aware approach to therapy. She believes healing comes from gently leaning into discomfort, listening to the body’s wisdom, and returning to safety with a strengths-based focus. Guided by her own commitment to presence and self-care, Candice shows up wholeheartedly and authentically with each client. Clients can expect to feel seen, validated, and supported at their own pace in a non-judgmental space. She has a special interest in art therapy, somatic awareness, and psychedelic-assisted therapy as alternative pathways for expression and healing when words are not enough. Candice warmly invites you to take a brave first step and explore healing through creativity and deeper ways of knowing.

My experiences and interests give me a unique understanding of…
  • The “underdog” — the person who keeps going despite being repeatedly harmed or overlooked.
  • How much strength it takes just to make it through the day when the world doesn’t recognize or value your resilience.
  • The hidden strengths we all carry, even when they feel out of reach.
  • How powerful it can be to have someone help you identify what’s blocking you from accessing your inner resources.
  • Supporting people in finding their voice and stepping into beliefs like “I am worthy,” “I am strong,” and “I can”.
My cultural or ancestral background is…
  • Metis and my husband is Inuit. I have a deep desire to support Indigenous people in what they believe their healing needs.
My clients describe me using words like…
  • Bold
  • Fiercely compassionate
  • Easygoing

My clients often self-identify as…
  • Neurodiverse individuals or those with disorders such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
  • Individuals who have been affected by substances or instances where an individual's family have used, and it has resulted in generational trauma or attachment difficulties in their own lives.
I’m the right therapist for you if…
  • You're looking for a space where your inner world is welcomed without judgment. Whether your experiences feel confusing, expansive, overwhelming, or hard to put into words, you'll find a home here, with artwork to help express and communicate in a safe space.
  • You are drawn to a new way of communicating and expressing yourself. Art offers another language, often one that goes deeper than words. It can help you express emotions you can't articulate, regulate your nervous system, uncover patterns, and access insights that talk therapy alone might not reach.
  • You're curious about deeper levels of consciousness that can be accessed through creativity, dreams, and emotional insights, as well as the preparation and integration of meaningful experiences that have made a significant difference in your life.

If we work together you can expect to feel...
  • Heard and understood not only through words, but through imagery, metaphor, and the deeper layers of your experiences that art can reveal.
  • Validated in your feelings as you learn to express, regulate and make sense of what is happening inside your body and mind through creative exploration.
  • Freer and lighter as the art supports your nervous system to listen to what your body is communicating to you and lean into the discomfort rather than trying to avoid or escape what is causing you to feel physical or emotional pain.
  • Hopeful about your own capacity for growth and an intrinsic felt sense of empowerment to achieve your hopes and dreams.

Psychedelic Therapy

My interest in working with non-ordinary states stems from...
  • A long-standing curiosity about the deeper layers of the human experience.
  • A non-biased perspective on the role of substances in meeting basic human needs such as connection, relief, insight, or belonging.
  • A desire to help people navigate their states of being with clarity and compassion.
  • Providing guidance that brings light to aspects of ourselves and our world that might otherwise remain unseen or unexplored.

  • Meet you with genuine presence and authenticity.  I will listen closely, not just to your words, but to your imagery, emotions, patterns and the meaning beneath what you are saying.
  • Honor your pace, your boundaries and your readiness. Together, we will build and explore in a way that feels safe, supported, and attuned.
  • Approach substance-related experiences with openness, not shame. Together, we will look at the underlying meaning and unmet needs with honesty and care.
  • Create a safe space where transformation becomes possible. My role is to help you access deep understanding, self-connection, and move towards a life that feels more aligned, meaningful and whole.

Booking FAQ

Does Candice offer direct billing with my insurance? Or how does payment work?

First Session charges each session directly to your credit card. Once each session occurs, and your card is charged, you will receive a PDF receipt to your email with all of the details you will need to get reimbursed (therapist name, license/designation, license number, address, etc). You can then submit the receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have coverage.

We always recommend you check with your insurance provider to confirm what coverage you have.

How do I know if Candice is a good fit?

You are the expert when it comes to knowing who is the right fit. Ensure you’ve watched the therapist video at the top of their profile and see if you get a good feeling from the message and the energy they are putting out. If you feel drawn to speak with them, listen to your gut! Booking a free consultation is a great first step to asses fit.
