Tell us about your mental health journey

My first introduction to therapy was when I was really struggling with my mental health following hospitalization and a diagnosis of Bipolar 1.

What did you learn in therapy and how did it help you?

It seems so simple but my breakthrough moment in therapy was learning how common my condition was. There was something so comforting about knowing my therapist had helped so many other individuals with my exact experiences overcome their adversity. I felt so much optimism knowing that many people before me had learned how to not only "survive" their illness but to "thrive" alongside it.

What is one thing you wish more people knew about therapy?

Your therapist has heard and seen it all! There is nothing you can tell them, no matter how wild it seems to you, that they haven't heard before. They will not judge you, they are there to help.
