Meet Katherine

My experiences and interests give me a unique understanding of…
  • The parts of ourselves we tuck away to remain loved, accepted, and safe.

  • The quiet ways we learn to abandon ourselves in order to belong.

  • The invisible threads connecting our earliest relationships to the people we become.

  • The weight of being the responsible one, the good child, the one who never asks for too much.

  • The loneliness of being deeply attuned to others while feeling like a stranger to ourselves.

  • The unspoken grief of growing up without what we needed, even when nothing terrible seemed to happen.

  • The complicated dance between longing for closeness and fearing what it might cost us.

  • The anger we swallow, the needs we silence, and the boundaries we never learned we were allowed to have.

  • The ache of belonging to multiple worlds while sometimes feeling entirely at home in none.

  • The inheritance of unspoken family stories, cultural expectations, and wounds that began long before us.

  • The possibility of finding our way back to the parts of ourselves we once had to leave behind.

  • The slow, nonlinear process of learning that our feelings are not inconveniences to overcome, but experiences worthy of being heard.

  • The courage it takes to loosen our grip on old ways of surviving, even when they've become part of who we are.

My cultural or ancestral background is…
  • First-generation Chinese immigrant.

My clients describe me using words like…
  • Warm and compassionate.

  • Curious and deeply attentive.

  • Thoughtful and reflective.

  • Patient and understanding.

  • Affirming and accepting.

  • Authentic and genuine.

My clients often self-identify as…

  • Deep thinkers, overthinkers, and introspective souls.

  • Highly sensitive, emotionally attuned, or deeply feeling individuals.

  • Cycle-breakers seeking to untangle inherited patterns and generational wounds.

  • Immigrants, children of immigrants, and people living between cultures.

  • Racialized, queer, neurodivergent, and otherwise marginalized individuals seeking affirming care.

I’m the right therapist for you if…
  • You've learned to be responsible for everyone else's feelings while quietly neglecting your own.

  • You've spent so much of your life being who others needed you to be that you’re beginning to wonder who you are for yourself.

  • You're the one who holds everything together, but rarely feel that you have somewhere to fall apart.

  • You long for closeness and intimacy, yet find yourself afraid of what it might cost you.

  • You're tired of mistaking self-abandonment for love, independence for safety, or emotional suppression for strength.

  • You're curious about how your childhood experiences continue to echo through your adult relationships.

  • You're looking for more than coping strategies or symptom reduction; you want to understand the roots of your struggles.

Booking FAQ

Does Katherine offer direct billing with my insurance? Or how does payment work?

First Session charges each session directly to your credit card. Once each session occurs and your card is charged, you’ll receive a PDF receipt by email with all the details you need to get reimbursed (therapist name, designation, license number, address, etc.). You can then submit the receipt to your insurance company for reimbursement if you have coverage. We always recommend checking your coverage with your provider before booking.

How do I know if Katherine is a good fit?

You are the expert when it comes to knowing who’s the right fit. Watch the therapist’s video at the top of their profile and see whether the message and energy resonate. If you feel drawn to speak with them, listen to your gut — booking a free consultation is a great first step to assess fit.

What if I see no available times to book a session?

If the therapist is listed as accepting clients and you see no available times, it’s likely they haven’t updated their availability (sorry about that!). In this case, you can to see what times they have available.

Can I contact Katherine before booking an appointment?
